#bpscon

The entire staff of Burlington Public Schools will join together for the second annual BPS PD Conference on August 27-29, 2012. Over the span of three days the staff will come together to collaborate, share, and learn from each other. This conference provides a unique experience where we will all be learning from our peers. We will all be learning from each other.

There are many engaging sessions planned over the three days of our conference. Please take some time to look over each session and plan your schedule accordingly. While some sessions are mandatory, the majority of the conference is open for you to roam. Try and get to as many sessions as possible and don’t feel bad if you have to leave one session in pursuit of another. We assure you, the presenters will not take offense. We want you to gain as much as possible from the three days. There is also plenty of time for you to meet with your colleagues and departments. If you decide to plan a session on your own, with your department or team, there will be plenty of opportunities for this as well.

We are excited to announce that the BPS EdTech Team and BHS Student HelpDesk will provide continuous support during nearly every session of the event in the BHS Lower Library. Visit members of the team or collaborate with other BPS teachers at any time. Spend some time exploring new applications or resources. Team members will be available for any technology topic and provide support for Google Docs, iPads, iTunes, transition to Google Drive, blogs, Student Digital Portfolios, and all topics from sessions at the event. Please make sure to take advantage of this support in the Lower Library.

BPSCON 2012 will also feature an open EdCampBPSCON area available for any staff member to sign up to lead a session or discussion about current educational topics. Simply sign up in the Lower Library or check the EdCampBPSCON Schedule to see what is being offered. These sessions are open to all faculty and staff.

BPSCON 2012 will not require any pre-regsitration for sessions. Simply review the schedule for each day and select that the sessions that are mandatory for you to attend. You can also select from the optional sessions throughout the event. Please remember that you must sign in at each session that you attend in order to receive appropriate credit for participation. The lack of pre-registration also means that some rooms will fill quickly. We will try to accommodate as many participants as possible in each session.

Please bring a laptop, iPad, or both each day. Lunch will be provided each day by Burlington in the BHS cafeteria. You can also stay connected to details during the event if you are a Twitter user by following or contributing to the hashtag #bpscon.

Please contact us if you have questions regarding the conference.
